The Plot is Out...
The Surya–Tamanna starrer Ayan is progressing day in and day out for an early 2009 release. Surya is reported to have retained his Vaaranam Aayiram six-pack for the movie. Director K V Anand has revealed the source of Ayan's story in an interview to a tabloid recently. According to him, Ayan is a collage of various real-life incidents that he happened to read in the newspapers over a period of time. "I have a huge load of such newspaper cuttings in my study. I have been reading and observing all the curious incidents reported in the newspapers in the past two years," Anand was quoted as saying. Writer Subha assisted him in building the story and screenplay based on such incidents.Ayan is based on the life of a youngster who is fresh and out of college and his dilemma in choosing among the million options life lays in front of him. "Surya's involvement in the movie is that of a stuntman who doesn't omit the minutest of details," Anand further said.

POOR FORM!!!!
Matthew Hayden failed at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which was supposed to be his favourite hunting ground, now that the questions are being raised: who will replace the Australian opener for the final Test in Sydney which might be a decider? Hayden could score only eight on the first day of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa at the MCG, the very stage where he has stood imposingly for a long time. But if Australia loses and he doesn't find some luck in the second innings as well then there is little hope that the selectors will give him a chance in Sydney. Captain Ricky Ponting admitted Hayden's form is a concern. As a batsman, Hayden has the second best performance at the MCG. He has six 100s here and an average of 76.57, the second best to Don Bradman, who has nine 100s and an average of 128.54.
There are his fellow men like Chris Rogers, Phil Hughes or Michael Klinger who are waiting in the wings and former Test opener Michael Slater believes rising star Hughes should be Hayden's apt successor. 'If Australia is not competing or losing, it will mean that Matty might lose his place because it tends to work like that. But I feel that Phil Hughes, in particular, is the guy whose name is in lights. He keeps churning it out, keeps going from strength to strength,' he said. But skipper Ponting hoped that Hayden will turn things around in the second innings.
Hope he does it...

Easy Business Loan!!!!
Everyone knows that large businesses make more money. For running a large business you need more investment. For more investment you need more money owned or borrowed. Apart from growth of business in current day trading when the economy is slowing down, even survival of business needs additional funds. HE is BACK...
After the stupendous success of Subramaniyapuram, Music Director James Vasantan is back for his next. His background music was brilliant in this movie. A popular television anchor James Vasanathan, mesmerized everyone with his scintillating musical score in ‘Subramaniapuram’. The song went on to become a chartbuster. “Kangal Irandal” is the anthem of the year among the youth. He had accolades pouring from all quarters. But, the music composer was in no hurry to accept his next movie. Finally, after much persuasion, he has agreed to do a movie for SPB Charan's Capital Film Works. The movie titled 'Naanayam' featuring Prasanna, Sibiraj and Ragini in the lead role will have musical score by James Vasanthan.
If 'Subramanipuram' was set in rural milieu, 'Naanayam' is city-based subject. Let's hope James Vasanathan does it bigger and better this time.

A DRAW WAS ON THE CARDSSS...
The match summary begins.. As expected, the Mohali Test petered out to a draw with Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh getting some functional but meaningless batting practice on a hollow final day. Neither got to their centuries and India's declaration left England a hypothetical 403 to win or, more pragmatically, 44 overs to bat. Ishant Sharma removed Alastair Cook cheaply, but that was as good as it got for India - Ian Bell and Andrew Strauss denied them further success, batting out the remainder of the Test. The fourth innings was but a formality. Cook nicked Ishant Sharma to VVS Laxman at second slip, and an out-of-form Bell poked and prodded, shuffled and swayed against pace and spin to accompany Strauss to the close. The match was dissolving into a farce when Mahendra Singh Dhoni brought himself on to bowl slow dibbly-dobblers, after which the umpires called off play.
Resuming on 134 for 4, India added 82 without fuss in a truncated 13-over morning session after thick fog delayed play by two-and-a-half hours. Gambhir and Yuvraj started cautiously before opening up with a range of aggressive strokes, Yuvraj fetching himself three sixes.
By the time lunch was taken, India's run rate for the morning was well over six and the way Yuvraj, especially, and Gambhir were batting, it appeared a spent England were cruising towards a bruising. Instead the two batsmen came out of the interval quite content to bide their time, but England snapped up three wickets.
For practical purposes, it should have happened earlier, after Yuvraj and Gambhir batted England out of contention. India had dug themselves into a pattern of nervous watchfulness yesterday afternoon, their strenuous approach numbing a sparse crowd into a coma, but Yuvraj's sparkling innings before stumps had livened up proceedings.
This morning, as the gloom steadily cleared, Yuvraj carried on in the same vein and succeeded in drawing some aggression from Gambhir too, whose bat had attracted barnacles on day four.
Yuvraj grabbed the initiative with a medley of punchy drives and slogs, including one particularly disdainful six off James Anderson. The last couple of Yuvraj's sixes came against his old sparring partner Broad and recalled images of that famous over in Durban, when he hit six in a row.
First came an audacious shot, a front-foot, flat-batted bludgeon over mid-on, and then a scoop over backward point. Broad then bowled a clever wide yorker which Yuvraj edged to third man for a single, and Gambhir saw out the over.
India's decision to come out after lunch will draw plenty of debate. The two set batsmen had already shoved England into a deep corner, and it appeared the only reason to continue batting was to hunt individual records.
In the end, neither Gambhir nor Yuvraj raised landmarks while India scored just 35 runs in the last 10 overs. After the thriller in Chennai, it was the weather, ultimately, that scuppered what could have been a great Test.

Premiere Stuff....
If you think about it yes we do spend alot of time in our living rooms, but with the kitchen we are cooking in there, and we are forever going back an fourth getting drinks, snacks etc. So really we should be making our kitchen look the best it can. One of the things i like to make an addition to my kitchen are counter height bar stools. Designing homes is never easy. It takes a lot of effort, time and most of all, money. You have many things to bear in mind. You have to know what you really want and your home must somehow reflect your personality. It's all about having a theme and getting the right accessories. It is also important that you don't overdo anything because it will just end up being a mess! As for me, I prefer a modern + minimalist home. By minimalist I mean clean lines, simple color palettes and unembellished surfaces. I don't have my own place yet but I would really like it to be simple, and free from unnecessary visual distraction and clutter. Minimalist style is all the rage right now, especially for those who have limited space. One of the most important room in the house is the kitchen. This is where the family gathers for socialising and entertaining. Getting the right stuff for the kitchen is very critical. You need to think of the lighting, the right furnitures and etc. If you wish, you could have a counter or a kitchen island. Of course, you could also opt to add bar stools that will be a perfect fit for your kitchen counter. This will provide you a place where you could have a quick meal, or entertain guests. Great bar stool seating could really make a difference in what your kitchen would look like. Just like in the picture of a kitchen (which is by the way not mine) above. Premiere Bar Stools is the leading source for bar stools online. You might want to check out their stylish designs that you might need to furnish your home. Their stools come in variety of styles such as contemporary or traditional. What's even great is that, they offer great selection of discount bar stools designs at reasonable prices. The products are finely crafted that would ensure comfortable seating for the years to come. Adding pub tables with counter stools is also an elegant way to upgrade your home. You can use this to have a stylish casual dining by a window or anywhere you want to put it. This can also be an additional seating in your home and perfect for entertaining guests. But you should also consider the space you have. You would want to buy a pub table set that is not only with high quality but also with the right size. Plus, you should always stay within your budget. Especially when you are low on budget, you should be wise on what you buy. There are so many things that you need to consider in designing a your own home with your own style that you tend to lose sight of what you have to do. But with enough thought and planning, it is always possible to achieve the home design that suits you.
BAN....
Nayanthara has been in the news for the past few weeks for bad reasons....
The film producers council are contemplating a ban on Nayanthara, reports our sources close to Kollywood. The buzz is that director Lingusamy and his production house Tirupathi Brothers have complained that Nayan refused to star in their forthcoming venture – Payya - after receiving an advance of Rs. 25 lakhs. But sources close to Nayan point out that the venture failed to take off on the stipulated time mentioned in the contract and Nayan’s call sheet was wasted. The advance amount, as per their claims, is adjusted towards the loss incurred by the actress. The buzz in Kollywood is that the Producers’ Council may take stern on the actress which could pave way for her ban in the Telugu and Malayalam film industries too.

THE WALL IS STILL STRONG....
After a year when the words "wall", "falling" and "crumbling" were never far from the headlines, Rahul Dravid could have been forgiven for thinking he had become Humpty Dumpty, instead of the most prolific No.3 batsman the world has ever seen. It really had been a wretched 2008, with 669 runs from 14 Tests before he arrived in Mohali. This, remember, was the man who made more than 600 runs in series in Australia and England when he was in his prime.
There were no clenched fists or frenzied waves of the bat when he reached his century on Saturday, but the man who sat behind the microphones later in the day looked like someone who had finally seen the light after weeks of confinement in an underground cave. "There was no statement," he said when asked about the muted celebrations for his 26th century. "I was just happy. I'm older and wiser now. I don't jump around and get excited.
"I'm relieved. It's nice to be contributing again. It's been a tough year, and it's good to make an important contribution, especially with the conditions that we've had in this game."
The partnership with Gautam Gambhir was worth 314 runs in 107.5 overs, its significance evident when the next highest stand was 40 runs. "Hopefully, it will be a match-winning partnership," Dravid said. "Gautam batted beautifully and took the pressure off me. He rotated the strike and was positive against both the pace bowlers and spinners. He's having a phenomenal year." England fought back spiritedly after breaking that partnership, but they should also be worried at how subsequent batsmen failed to make much headway on a pitch that's sure to play a few tricks over the next three days. "At 300 for 1, we were looking around, wondering where we were going to get a wicket from," said Graeme Swann, who along with the indefatigable Andrew Flintoff was the pick of the bowlers. "The way Dravid played, he hardly gave us any chance. He was exceptional."

SAY GOODBYE TO GOA FOR THIS NEW YEAR......
Christmas and New Year beach parties in tourist resorts in the Indian state of Goa have been banned because of security concerns, say the authorities. No specific details have been given but officials said there was "obviously" a security threat. The decision follows the attacks in Mumbai last month in which more than 170 people were killed. The ban will be a major blow to Goa, which relies on the thousands of tourists attending the famous parties. "Taking into consideration all the aspects, we have decided that beach parties would not be allowed from December 23 to January 5," Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat told reporters.
He said traditional ceremonies and parties being held in hotels will be unaffected.
Kishan Kumar, Goa's police inspector general, told Reuters: "Obviously there is a security threat, but we cannot say anything more specific at the moment".
Security has been tightened around India's coast following the attacks in November and several foreign governments have advised their citizens against travel to the country.
Goan business leaders said tourism was a "lifeline" and the decision would seriously affect trade.

In less than few days of Nayan having been shown the door from the Lingusamy directed Payya, Trisha bagged the project and is all set to star in the movie. It is learnt that Nayan demanded a crore for the movie and refused any negotiations whatsoever. The producers, on the other hand, were ready to shell out 75 lakhs on her pay check. This tug of war eventually ended with the producers finding a replacement for Nayan. Last heard, Trisha lapped up the project for 80 lakhs and signed in the contract papers giving away the required dates to Tirupathy pictures. Payya is expected to kick start soon and it would be Karthi's third venture after the long-pending Selvaraghavan directed Aayirathil Oruvan.

WATCH OUT....
A diet high in carbohydrate instead of protein improves the ability of people with McArdle disease to exercise, results of a small study indicate. McArdle disease is a metabolic muscle disorder. People born with the disease are unable to produce an enzyme called muscle phosphorylase, which is important in producing the fuel source required by the muscles for exercise. People with McArdle disease develop severe muscle pain and fatigue in the first few minutes of exercise, followed often by severe muscle spasms if they continue to exercise.
Two small studies have suggested that a protein-rich diet may be beneficial for patients with McArdle disease. In the current study, Drs. S. T. Andersen and J. Vissing, from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark examined the effects of a carbohydrate-rich versus a protein-rich diet on exercise "tolerance" in 7 adults with McArdle disease.
The patients were randomized to follow one diet or the other diet for 3 days. The patients exercised on a stationary bicycle after each diet.
The investigators found that exercise performance was better with the carbohydrate-rich diet than the protein-rich diet. For example, heart rate and perceived exertion were consistently lower and maximal oxygen uptake was 25 percent higher in patients on the carbohydrate versus the protein diet. This study, Andersen and Vissing conclude, suggests that patients with McArdle disease should be kept on a diet with a high content of carbohydrates to improve their ability to tolerate exercise.

Will it OR Wont?
Will it release or not? It has already been out of limelight for the past few years... This film had problems right from the beginning with a lot of changes mainly the heroines..
The project started out with tremendous anticipation. After many names were considered for the lead role, director Bala zeroed in on Arya. The project did start off but then many an unfortunate issue plagued the film. Finally after 302 days of production the filmmakers have finally announced that the shooting of the film is over. The final day of shooting was termed 'patch-up' shoot and took place recently in the AVM Studios in Chennai.
Speculation about 'Naan Kadavul' is that the film might be finally ready to hit theaters during Pongal. Sure would be a big moment for both Arya and Bala.
Bala had earlier directed the film 'Pithamagan' that fetched a National Award for Vikram.

Beware The Next Time...
What is happening to all the heroines in GAutams MOvies?
When something happens twice, you can call it a coincidence. But when it repeats four times in a row, it is difficult to see it as just a coincidence. That is why we are discussing a queer aspect of Gautham Menon movies, a hint of tragedy. This is nothing but a musing that occurred while thinking about all the Gautham Menon films over the years, Minnale being the lone exception to this. This musing makes no attempt to be judgmental about the director’s style of film making, its quality or any other technical or non-technical aspect. It is just an observation from a normal moviegoer’s perspective of the seemingly inseparable element of a Gautham movie- death, mostly of a female lead.
Kakka Kakka had Maya (Jyothika) being tragically shot down by the antagonists, Vettaiyaadu Valaiyaadu is best remembered for Aradhana’s (Jyothika) close escape from a certain death, but one should not forget the killing of Kayalvizhi (Kamalinee Mukherjee) which comes early in the first half. Then, in Pachchaikili Muthucharam, it was Jyothika again, this time playing a negative role, being gunned down by the protagonist Sarath Kumar. Finally, it is down to Vaaranum Aayiram where one of the female leads (there are three of them, we don’t want to spoil the suspense for those who are yet to watch the movie) is killed by fate conspiring against her, or should we say, the conspiracy of Gautham’s script.
A Gautham Menon script is certainly not a safe place for a female lead character to be in. They are always in some kind of mortal danger, it seems. Always being pursued for the dint of being associated with the rather adventurous and dutiful male lead, that was the case in KK and VV. PM was a case of novel scripting, putting an actress in a zone that Tamil movie actresses have seldom been in, while in Vaaranum Aayiram, it was neatly written in by Gautham as fate. Different as they may seem, all four situations resulted in the same eventuality for the character in question.
We are not trying to interfere with a director’s or scriptwriter’s freedom here. We also have to agree that death and mortal fear have an impact on the story that no other twist can have and Gautham uses it well at key points in his movies. He does not deal in high voltage sentimental scenes, tear jerking dialogues or those touching final moments when one character lies on another’s lap delivering an extended farewell with a good number of bullets having passed through his/her body. But he does manage to shock us, touch us and move us at the same time. We may even call him the Modern Tragedy Master of Kollywood.

MOVIE REVIEW...
At one point in Yuvvraaj, one character tells another: Tum samajhdar ho, intelligent ho, clever ho. A few reels later, one brother tells another: No papa, no father, no pita, no daddy.
Characters keep repeating themselves and if you still don’t get the point of this predictable film about three estranged brothers, writer-producer- director Subhash Ghai gives us a voice-over that spells out the obvious and a character who hands us a motto at the end: Independent you live, united you stand. It’s not very new or deep or engaging.
Yuvvraaj is a loose rip-off of Barry Levinson’s 1988 hit Rainman, which won four Oscars including best actor and best Picture.
Here too, a father dies leaving a majority of his fortune to his autistic son, Gyanesh, played by Anil Kapoor. Of course this is autism Bollywood style.
So we see Gyanesh making music with children and bouncing balls in the living room. People call him bhola and someone declares: uski dimagi halat kharab hai. His brother Deven, played by Salman Khan, who has been estranged from the family for 12 years, returns to claim his share of dad’s Rs 15,000 crores.
The original touch here is that there is also a third brother Danny, played by Zayed Khan, a spoilt rich brat, who is mostly shown flying planes, gambling and lolling in bed with a floozy, who memorably dumps him for, and the exact dialogue is: the second richest man in London.
At first, both Deven and Danny are only looking to somehow extract money from their bhola brother but as the three spend time together, they bond and discover the importance of the united family.
Subhash Ghai, who created some memorable blockbusters through the 1980s and early 90s, returns to his favoured movie mode: 70 mm melodrama with stars, picturesque foreign locations and melodious music.
He brings passion and ambition but unfortunately he is let down by his own script. The writing is archaic and simplistic with unintentionally funny dialogue.
The lead characters have little flesh on them but the minor ones are positively cartoonish. There is a wicked mamaji and my personal favorite, a sultry sister-in-law who speaks only in shudh Hindi but wears plunging necklines and makes moves on Deven.
The performances match the writing. Salman, essentially plays himself, an unpredictable lover who smashes a guitar when he is in a rage but he is also good- hearted.
Changing hairstyles in every scene, Salman scrapes through the romance and comedy but his tears have no conviction. Anil goes back to his simpleton act from Eeshwar.
Poor Zayed is saddled with the most underwritten part. He’s also given a scene in which he cries in close-up. This is of course meant to be moving but in fact he looks like he has severe indigestion. There’s also Boman Irani hamming it in a bad wig, Mithun Chakarborty trying not to ham it in a bad wig and Anjan Srivastav, who for reasons never explained, has one blue eye.
A R Rahman’s music helps to salvage some scenes but Yuvvraaj is an opportunity lost. See it if you must.

Apart from Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, at sixth, is the only other Indian batsman in the top 10 while Sachin Tendulkar is ranked 12th.
In the bowlers' chart, Indian pace spearhead Zaheer rose a step to 11th while offie Harbhajan Singh (20th) climbed two rungs to break into the top 20.
Outside India, Sri Lanka's up-and-coming pacer Nuwan Kulasekara gained 11 places to 14th place after a successful series against Zimbabwe.
Ajantha Mendis, leading wicket-taker in the series with 15 scalps, has gained 19 places and now occupies the 25th position in the rankings while senior spin colleague Muttiah Muralitharan gained three spots to be back into the top five in third position.
Australia's Nathan Bracken still retains his place as the top-ranked ODI bowler in the world with New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori close behind in second.
In the batsmen's chart, Kumar Sangakkara is up one place to 15th after finishing top-scorer in the series against Zimbabwe with 182 runs in what was a tour essentially dominated by the ball.
