A Good Show!

The Indo-Pak cricket exhibition clash at England last week was designated as a 'Catch the Spirit' match, with funds raised to support the families of the victims of the attack on the Sri Lanka team and match officials in Lahore in March, as well as Peace and Sport projects across the Asian sub-continent.The opening Indian duo got their side off to a flyer, in their chase of 159, in a partnership of 140 off 100 balls. The batting of Sharma and Ghambir fittingly graced the occasion with a touch of class as the Pakistani bowlers had no answer to their power and manipulation. India's victory was secured with three over’s to spare via an Aamer wide as the ICC World Twenty20 holders tuned up nicely for retaining the cup in 2009. Pakistan's innings had earlier fluctuated wildly as they got off to the worst of starts losing a wicket in the first over before rattling up 45 in quick time. A dramatic collapse then saw them lose three wickets in five balls without addition. Experienced batting duo Younis Khan (32) and Misbah-ul-Haq (37) led a recovery after the early collapse. The fielding displayed by the Indian team especially Suresh Raina is worth mentioning. With the stands filled with supporters of both the teams everyone enjoyed a good show!
